The adjective goriška (of the Gorica) was added to the Brda in time of the "romantic geography" at the end of the 19^th century, at the same time as "Slovene Venice" (for Vipava), "Switzerland of Kočevje" (for hills above the Kolpa river) ..., those names could not be taken seriously, today.

Local people have spoken only Brda, Brike and Brici (inhabitants of the region) for centuries. Region with this name is only one in Slovenija, so the adjective goriška is really not necessary.

Individual geographers name with Brda also wine-growing areas of the Vipava valley and hills around Koper, which is clearly not acceptable.
