Golobova jama near Boka
Slovene cave cadastre number 3200,
known name is Mala boka, which is not appropriate.
Locals such call the cave at the Log Čazsoški and
Žaga, the nearest villages. However, it is not easy
to find out the name. It is important to make an effort to
find the right people who know about their environment.

People named it after a rock pigeon (Columba livia), which
lived in the entrance part. Surely these were game birds
hunted for food in the past.
There were many rock pigeons in caves few decades ago, but
today they are rare in nature, so it is a endangered bird
species, although there are to many as domestic pigeons
(Columba livia f. domestica) in the cities.
These birds no longer exists in the cave. Possibly there
are some bones of pigeon in holes in cave ceiling?
Who knows?
Let keep this rare birds alive in the Bovec area at least in nice original geographical name!
Name Boka means submersible and dry cave, 106 m high waterfall, torrent and ravine.
Golobova jama is not situated in a gorge of the Boka, but
the entrance is opened near the ravine.
Out of the cave
falling waterfall after heavy rainfall . The waterfall
is a source of the Sušec torrent, which is not tributary the
Boka, but flows into the Soča river higher than the Boka.
