About the name Velka voda - Reka

The name represents world known karst and famous sinking river.

People talk and put down anything is possible. The name Recca was published by Lazius on his map from 1561. On this base Mercator published the name in his famous ATLAS. The other published names are Notranjska reka, Notranjska, Notranjka, Brkinska Reka, Kraška Reka, Timava, Zgornja Timava and evan Zgornja reka and similar.

Repeating of general and own name is senseless, because with recurrence is not possible to elucidate to which flowing water repeated names refer to.

Recurrence is low browed and showing of very low knowledge about Slovenija. In book of maps entitled Atlas Slovenije 17 rivers and brooks is named only by own name as Reka = river. The Atlas Slovenije is not the best source for proper geographical names, but so many names shows us frequency of so simple own water names in differant parts of the Slovene ethnical territory.
